The moving force in the establishment of SOOG was to promote a greater appreciation for opera. To this end, they have brought opera workshops into the public schools, professional opera company performances to the community and sponsored the Cameron University Summer Opera Program. Southwest Oklahoma Opera Guild has certainly developed an audience for opera as exemplified by the sold out bus trips to see top companies in the region.
